Hot Halloween Costumes 2010 New and Old
Let's start with the new. That's always fun. It's so exciting when new costumes are created for recent hit movies. Ones of note are: Avatar, Smurfs, Jonah Hex and Despicable Me.
Avatar: There's no arguging about the popularity of James Cameron's sci-fi epic. It was a breath-taking movie full of brilliant effects and unscored by a thoughtful story-line.
Avatar costumes of Neytiri and Jake Sully as his Na'Vi alter-ego will be available in both adults and childrens sizes. Masks and accessories will finish out the Avatar costume line.
I predict the Avatar costumes will be very popular. So popular probably that they will be near impossible to get as gets close to halloween. But I think their popularity will lies mostly with women and girls. The Neytiri outfits are really pretty. They have a certain look about them that often appeals to female sensibilities.
Smurfs: It wasn't that long ago that I lamented the lack of smurf costumes in existence. Someone must've been listening because now they're here to accompany the brand new Smurfs movie which is to be released some time in the not too distant future.
I think the public demand for smurf costumes has been festering without requite for a long time now and because of that they are likely to be snatched up at a fierce rate by men, women and kids. I expect to be seeing hoards of smurfs both tall and small romaing the streets come Halloween night.
Despicable Me: This soon to be released animated movie looks to have a lot of promise. It's got great actors as the voices, fun looking characters and a cute premise. From the promos I've seen it looks like it'll be pretty fun. As an overgrown children's movie conoseuir you can trust my word when I say a kids movie will be good. And I believe Despicable Me will.
Whether or not that will translate into costume sales is difficult to predict since I haven't actually seen the movie yet. Off-hand though, The minions look a little bit too much like spongebob for my liking. Gru and Vector are kinda cool, but I'm not really sure they'll appeal to adults enough and that's the only size they come in.
Avatar: The Last Airbender: Not to be confused with James Camerson's Pandora based Avatar. This is an japanese animated series that's been airing on nickelodeon for several years now.
This particular cartoon is not my cup of tea, but it wouldn't have been on the air as long as it has if the kids didn't like it. Plus they're making a live action movie based on it and directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
I think older kids, boys, moreso will definitely want Last Airbender costumes. The valiant action oriented nature of the cartoon is just what little boys love.
Penguins of Madagascar: This too is a nickelodeon cartoon series that is action oriented and therefore probably appeals more to the male side. The costumes are cute and should appeal to both parents and their offspring.
Jonah Hex: The new Jonah Hex movie is based on a comic book character of the same name. He's a not a traditional hero. Instead he's a sort of conflicted hero. Imperfect, but with noble intent still the same.
Jonah Hex is also an interesting comic book hero because he is a cowboy complete with western hat and duster coat.
Jonah is being played in the movie by Josh Brolin who has a good track record in movies. His co-star and friend Lilah is Megan Fox.
Women and Teen Girls are going to like the Lilah costumes for sure. They are sexy, but tasteful.
Mens, teen boys and little boys are going to gobble up the Jonah Hex outfits. He's got so many great qualities boys tend to love, especially on Halloween. A nastilyy scarred face. He's a cowboy. He's a hero who fights creepy villains and he has a hot girlfriend. What guy wouldn't love this.
Star Trek: Now Star Trek costume are not new. And last year certain Star Trek outfit flew off the shelves while others went completely ignored. Uhura was wildly popular with the ladies. Thanx in part I'm sure to that cute red dress she wears.
Spock was also a popular guy and his pointy vulcan ears were a most covetted comodity.
But what people are going to go wild for Halloween 2010 are the baby star trek costumes. They are the cutest thing I have ever seen. And since when you're a baby your parent tend to decide what costume you will wear they tend to pick the costumes they find the cutest. And I'm certain lots and lots of parents will find the
Baby Spock
and Baby Captain Kirk costumes irresistably cute.

Also of major note are two old favorites have brand new sequels out which should reignite interest in their costume lines - Shrek and Toy Story.
Disney's Toy Story 3 is a box office smash and the previous toy story movies were pretty big deals as well. This is the kind of movie that appeals not just to kids, but parents, teens, the elderly, everyone.
Expect to see a lot of buzz lightyears and ham the piggie banks come halloween. So if you or your chilld wants to be buzz or hamm be sure to order early to ensure they don't run out.
Shrek Forever After opened to good buzz and remains strong with moviegoers. The Fiona Warrior outfits for girls and women are really cute and we think people will love them. The baby donkey and shrek outfits are also quite awww-worthy.
